HOW TO PREP FOR AN OPEN HOUSE
Staging your house means preparing and decorating your home to make it more appealing to potential buyers — and it can make a big difference in how quickly and profitably your home sells.

01
Stage Key Rooms
Living Room: Open and inviting with good lighting. Kitchen: Clear counters, clean appliances, a bowl of fruit or flowers as a touch. Primary Bedroom: Calm, neutral bedding and minimal decor. Bathrooms: Fresh towels, tidy cabinets, and closed toilet lids.
02
Create a Pleasant Atmosphere
Open windows to air out the space beforehand. Avoid strong scents like air fresheners. Instead neutralize smells. Sprinkle baking soda on carpets, leave overnight, and vacuum it up the next day. Place saucers of distilled vinegar around the house and leave them overnight to neutralize any smells. Indoor plants can absorb up to 87% of indoor pollutants. Adjust blinds for natural light and turn on all the lights in the house.

03
Freshly Baked Cookies!
Baking a fresh batch of cookies or muffins can instantly make buyers feel at home. Leave the baked good out on a nice plate along with some water bottles to make them feel welcome.
04
Remove Pets and Pet Evidence
Take pets with you (or board them temporarily). Hide litter boxes, food bowls, and pet beds/crates. Eliminate pet odors—especially in carpets and upholstery.

05
Clear the Driveway & Entry
Open blinds/curtains and turn on all lights during showings. Use mirrors to reflect light and create the illusion of space. Rearrange or remove furniture to make rooms feel more open.
